14th IFCAI Biennial Conference in Hong Kong
Arbitral Institutions: Guarding Due Process, Ensuring Efficiency

By Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) in collaboration with The International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI)
15 October 2017
Registration time: 9:30am - 10:00am
10:00am - 5:45pm

HKIAC (38/F Two Exchange Square, 8 Connaught Place, Central, Hong Kong)

The primary objective of the arbitral institution is to safeguard due process while ensuring efficiency. Sometimes these two objectives are in tension, particularly where the proceedings are strained by non-participating parties or obstructive or irresponsible conduct on the part of counsel, parties and/or arbitrators. How do institutions best ensure that their efforts towards efficiency do not jeopardise the parties' fundamental procedural rights?

The 14th IFCAI Biennial Conference will convene experts from various disciplines and backgrounds to discuss how institutions may best guard due process while ensuring efficiency during the life of an arbitration.
