Being part of the Hong Kong Arbitration Week, the HK Arbitration Charity Ball aims to raise funds to support local Hong Kong charities and to assist in the development of arbitration across Asia.

Key Objectives
  • Primarily to raise money for local Hong Kong charities; and
  • To promote Hong Kong as a leading seat for international arbitration.
Beneficiaries for 2017
This year the Ball will raise money for two separate charities, the first, a new beneficiary, selected from the many deserving local charities for the good works it contributes to the community, and the second, selected from previous recipients of the Ball's proceeds, which will receive a second injection of funding to continue the projects commenced with the original proceeds received from the HK Arbitration Charity Ball.

"HELP" , will be the newest beneficiary. HELP's mission is to empower foreign domestic workers in Hong Kong and assist them avoid exploitation. To do this HELP provides free advice and assistance on employment, immigration and human rights issues to domestic workers, irrespective of race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation or gender.

"SoCO", the Society for Community Organization, recipients of proceeds of the HK Arbitration Charity Ball 2013, will receive further funding to continue its good work to create equal opportunity for participation and fair distribution of social resources, and in particular its work to combat the prevalence of caged housing in Hong Kong.

20% of funds raised by the Ball are also donated to an organisation committed to promoting Hong Kong as a leading seat for international arbitration. We are currently accepting proposals from organisations that would like to apply for the funding. If you have any ideas regarding how the funds could best be applied or wish to apply for funding, then please contact Alix Povey at alix.povey@hkacb.net.
